Vision and Mission

Vision

To prepare the grounds for quality teaching and learning outcomes at the Basic Education Level and to develop school-based support for teachers.

Mission

To provide a Comprehensive Teacher Education Programme through Pre-Service and In-Service training that would produce competent, committed and dedicated teachers to improve the quality of teaching and learning at the Basic Education Level.

To achieve the Vision and Mission, certain priorities have been put in place. These are:

• improving pre-service training of the teacher,
• improving the performance base of the tutors in the colleges,
• targeting school-based in-service training for basic school heads and teachers, and
• continuing in-service training for all Assistant Directors (Supervisors) and Circuit Supervisors.
